Day 8 (Warren OH & Hiram OH)

We drove the night before to Warren, OH to go to church there. This was the ward that Brandon wanted to attend, as it was his favorite area. We were hoping to meet the VanVleet family, but they were out of town that day. We were also hoping to meet with the Dinsio Miller family, but that didn't work out either. We enjoyed sacrament meeting in Warren and could see that Brandon was definitely remembered in that ward. We met a few of his investigators that are now current members. We met some of the ward members that worked directly with Brandon. One man pulled Kirk aside and told him that he was so impressed with Brandon and wanted to compliment us as parents. He said that he would be happy to say Brandon was his son. Such a great compliment!

We drove to the John Johnson Farm in Hiram OH. We had missed this stop as part of the Kirtland experience, but actually was closer to Warren. Joseph & Emma lived with the Johnsons for about a year. This is the place were Joseph was tarred & feathered. We saw the room, just off the side of the front door, where Joseph & Emma and their two little children were sleeping when the mob stormed the house and took Joseph. Upstairs was the room where Joseph & Sidney Rigdon saw in vision God & Jesus which became Section 76 (or 77) in D&C. The spirit was very strong in this house. We stood on the front steps where Joseph preached many times. This was one of my favorite stops. The house has been restored to its original condition. The rooms and some of the floors were very colorful.

P.S. No rain today. This might have been the first day with no rain. We saw some amish people and drove through some nice green and rolling hills of Ohio. Drove to Indiana and stopped for the night. Next stop: Nauvoo & Carthage.
